Poké is all the rage right now for several reasons. It’s a healthy and fast option that’s packed full of flavor. Think of it as sushi in a bowl instead of a roll, and it is DELICIOUS.
We recently made a trip to Poké Bop, located at 4103 Lemmon Ave. When you arrive, you can choose between either Signature Poké Bowls or you can choose to build your own bowl or a Poké-Ritto (Sushi Burrito anyone?!). You’ll go through the line as shown in the next two images, loading up your bowl or ‘Ritto.
We both decided to try bowls. Stefanie built her own bowl with spicy chicken on green tea rice. She loaded it up with sweet onion, cucumber, edamame, cilantro, mango, corn, and topped with Ponzu and Garlic Aioli. Stefanie isn’t a seafood eater (Shocking, I know). She really liked this bowl, and she’s obsessed with the green tea rice. The chicken bowls are great option for any non-seafood lovers that still want to try a Poke Bowl or go with their seafood loving friend.
I ordered the Hawaiian Bowl on green tea rice, filled with ahi tuna, sweet onion, cucumber, seaweed salad, pineapple, masago, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and the classic Poké Sauce. This bowl was light and refreshing. The pineapple added a great Hawaiian flavor to it. This was my first experience with Poké, and I was very impressed. I am an avid sushi eater, and this is a fun spin on sushi. The bowls will make a fast and tasty lunch option, so I’ll be back again very soon.
If you’ve been on the Gram lately, you’ve seen Sushi Donuts. We both have seen some images, but this is the first spot in Dallas I’ve been to serving these little slices of heaven. They are essentially a sushi roll, made circular. The base is green tea rice, covered in salmon, ahi tuna, masago, cucumber, and radishes. They are just as delicious as they look.
I will make the disclaimer that the following sushi bites aren’t a normal part of the menu, but the chef made this little platter for our group and it was too beautiful not to show. It was to die for too. I particularly loved the avocado wrapped spicy tuna, and the little cucumber and fish diddies. YUM!
We LOVE Poké Bop, and we’re pretty confident that you will too. Give it a try the next time you’re looking for a fast-casual spot or a quick lunch break at work. You won’t be disappointed.
